YARN EMBRACES

Man made me.
Created me from closely knit yarn. Dyed.
Spilled the flowers and scattered the patterns.
Made me to give warmth, protect, hide.
I became part of his other skin and his vanity.
I traveled through time, imperishable.
I was a sign of recognition for civilizations.
For the rich and the hungry. For the young and for the old.
I shielded their rooms from light and stares.
In my soft folds they were born and went to sleep.
I have given cover to both the ugly and the beautiful.

I was the attire of warriors.
I was the banner of the conquered and conquerors.
I was the shroud of the dead.
I was torn, ripped, burned.
Man destroyed me.

I was a dash of life fluttering and flying bodiless through time.
I was a shape of life.
I was yesterday. I am today. I will be tomorrow.
I will be a sign. I will be an eternity. I will be a painting.
Man made me.
